A bike ride to Borivali National park, with Mallik, Vj and Bertram ! Bertram and Mallik were there on their 'non-motored' bikes while me and Vj on our motored ones.

Along the ride in the park towards Kanheri caves there was a wonderful bridge over a supposed rain-water river flowing beneath it. I'm sure had it been monsoons, we would have not left the place. However we reached Kanheri caves and entered with a Rs. 5 ticket.

The Kanheri caves have about more than 100 individual caves, some of them big like a court while some small.

Traveling Directions
Reach to Borivali Station (Western Railway), get down at the eastern end of the station, catch a rickshaw its just 5 minutes ride to the park gate.

Had been for a bird watch in the mucky creek of Mahul, Chembur, Mumbai on 26th Apr 2008.

It is advisable to check with the locals for the right time of the visit, eg. a high tide is preferred over there.

Here is a short summary of my travel

21 Mar, Fri 12.00pm: Start from Khar (Mumbai)
2.45pm: Alibaug

Raaj had asked us for a Gujarat trip, Gir being one of the attractions. Me, Rushi, Rahul the 'BABA man', Amey, his parents and Sunil had finally managed to sync our schedules, etc to make it to the journey. I thought it was gonna be just a 'Gir' trip, synonymous to my earlier Kanha-Kisli trip, I was excited.

Me and Rushi went to Amey's place, from where we were supposed to meet and reach Bandra Terminus. Sunil had already come at Raaj's place. Amey was ready so were his parents, we moved downstairs and called our TP #1, Rahul. Soon we were in the rick to the Terminus. At the terminus, I heard talks of Amey's parents, "They will be here.., She is not coming..." I didn't understand, Rushi explained, that there are others from the Kirtikar 'community' who will be along with us. The train was on the platform around 5. As expected it was full of Gujaratis, and their non-tiring mouths. As soon as I entered my bogie, I head a young gujarati lady

Phew !!, I'm in for long, memorable ride full of "किस्से". That statement was gonna be the first one for my Gujarati-office fellas. We managed to accommodate all our baggage, etc and became comfortable, when the high amplitude of the Gujarati conversations started to hit us from all angles. laughter followed. The train departed around 5.40, and soon we were laughing on why Sunil had spent Rs. 300 on his new shorts. Raaj had a different bogie, so he had to come from his end. At dinner, we couldn't stop rolling on Rahul and Sunil's gimmicks. A sound little sleep followed later.

A bike ride for the coming weekend was getting me and Vj so excited. But the increasing no. of the participants and someone's constant "Ferry ride.. Ferry ride.." and "tain tu tain taain taain.." made us force ourselves to change the plan for only a Ferry ride constituting to a 'Alibaug picnic' instead of a 'Murud bike-ride'. Ashok and Gauri were to join us as well. Rajo couldn't make it as he was at Tirupati satisfying Gods. I dying to see Vj's new Rebel XTi. Even after the disappointment of dropping the bike ride (me and Vj will continue to direct these sarcastic comments till we die), the whole scenario was perfect for a ideal weekend picnic, Cool weather, Vikrant, the ever so giggling guy, Vj adding dry fuel to jokes, Ashok and not but the least Mukti, the giggling 'Kutch ki raani'.

At 6.00am I was @ Khar station boarding the 5.59 Churchgate local. It was not surprising, that Vj was just at Borivali station at that time, boarding a fast local. And to add to that..

In the office, there was chaos about the time to meet everybody @ the VT station, even though everything was clear on "meetup.com". In the chaos 10.45pm was supposed to be the train departure (according to us). I left for home, Vinay, Kulkarni, Neeraj were supposed to come directly. Sudani and Ashok too went home. I was @ VT around 10.15 pm when I met Vinay, Kulkarni and Neeraj. Rajoba had called that he had just left Andheri with Sudani. But we saw nobody below the Big clock, were we there on the wrong day ? :P ? Vinay called Mallik, he said the train departed around 11.20pm, and we were early. So we headed out into VT's night. Amazingly the shops we banked on to get a torch, all had shut. Just a few remained. We went to Sterling got some snaps of the Deutche Bank and then into McDonalds. Enjoying burger, tea, coffee , Vinays' phone rang, it was Mallik

We saw a big group standing with a lot of big backpacks lying below. Met the familiar faces. Sanjay Bhutani, the one who never missed any trek, Janki, Bertram, Amey, Anupama, Pali, Mallik and more. Sanjay had got a german friend of his. '11.20pm S' was scheduled, Karjat. Train ride as always after Kalyan was more of monkeys jumping here and there. Vinay even managed to get on the luggage rack!

Travelling Directions

Not always I'm a part of a picnic, probably people around me are afraid to get me into one. So this one started as a trek, and changed into a picnic/hike by the time we were about to start it :P.

The album is titled as 'HostwayCartoons', not just because we work in Hostway but also for the souls that we possess.
