7 September 2008 - Rieti, Italy - Asafa Powell clocked two more impressive times this afternoon (7) cruising to 9.77 in his heat of the 100m and then produced his second show of the day by winning the final in 9.82, on the Rieti track where he set his last World record in 2007 (9.74); all this just two days after his clash against Usain Bolt in Brussels (Fri 5).

7 September 2008 - Dubinca, Slovakia – The last running event provided the expected highlight of 6th Athletics Bridge - EA Permit - in Dubnica today (7), a meeting in which 14 Olympic medallists were competing. There was a record capacity crowd of 5500 who watched the meeting on a nice summer day (30+ temperatures). In total meet records were set in 9 of the 15 events.

7 September 2008 – Helsingborg, Sweden - In the second edition of the ‘World Record Challenge’ in Helsingborg Gerd Kanter, the World and Olympic champion in the men’s Discus Throw dominated with another world class performance. His series was impressive with four throws over 69 metres and the winning throw of 70.32m coming in the fourth round.

7 September 2008 - Paris, France - Team USA was the winner with 89 points in a closely contested match in Charlety stadium for the fourth edition of SEAT DecaNation, with Germany in second place with 85 points, one more point than France who were third.

7 September 2008 - London, UK - Meseret Defar easily defended her adidas Women's Challenge 5km title in London on Sunday morning (7) but failed to smash Paula Radcliffe's course record.

6 September 2008 – Rieti, Italy - The return of Asafa Powell to the track where he ran his 9.74 secs World record last year and a World record attempt in the women’s 5000m by Ethiopian long distance running star Tirunesh Dibaba will be in the spotlight at the 38th edition of the Rieti IAAF Grand Prix meeting scheduled for Sunday 7 September, one of the two Italian legs of the IAAF World Athletics Tour.

5 September 2008 - Brussels, Belgium - Pamela Jelimo secured the $1 Million ÅF Golden League Jackpot outright, as Blanka Vlasic’s hopes of at least a share of the prize fell at the sixth and final stage of the ÅF Golden League 2008, the Belgacom Memorial Van Damme, which was played out in front of a sell-out 47,000 crowd in the King Baudouin Stadium.

4 September 2008 - Brussels, Belgium - The Belgacom Memorial Van Damme, the finale of the ÅF Golden League 2008, takes place in the Belgian capital on Friday 5 September 2008. The meeting will focus on Beijing achievements, a notable retirement, and of course the last stage of the ÅF Golden League $1 Million Jackpot.

3 September 2008 - Zagreb, Croatia – Olympic 200m champion Veronica Campbell-Brown leads a list of half a dozen Olympic champions confirmed for the Zagreb Grand Prix set for Tuesday, 9 September.
